So i’ve been meaning to explore other tonkatsu restaurants to find the best CHEAP tonkatsu in midtown, hopefully i won’t have to suffer much….Hana is the first joint i saw that had a tonkatsu meal under 15 bucks…including tax and tip.
Delivery was pretty quick, and the delivery guy was pretty nice.
Tonkatsu Entrée (choice of soup or salad, white rice or brown rice): I got the salad, and white rice. At first look, i was fearful the tonkatsu wasn’t going to be cripsy/crunchy. What was positive was that the dish was HOT. i love hot food. $11.75 
Salad was fresh and seemed like it was freshly cut…which is probably not the case. But what really makes a japanese salad good, is ALWAYS the dressing! too bad this dressing was overly pungeant but not much flavor to it. I think my nose got a bigger kick out of it then my tongue….It was still good, but no wow factor.
next time i’m definitely gonna try the soup…
Opening up the tonkatsu, it was very aromatic AND CRISPY!!! However the end pieces were a little bit on the harder side…breading a tad thick…however, the middle sections with more meat was really good. (however, with the end pieces being so hard, it made me wonder if this wasn’t just sitting around under a light or something…) 
The boiled vegetables on the side were really good, and they gave us alot of baby corn…which i’ve known other places to jip on. 
Now what really makes the tonkatsu complete and can actually save even bad breaded pork cutlet is the TONKATSU SAUCE!!!! They’re Tonkatsu sauce was really good…it really put the meal together, and with the rice it just made it a complete enticing entrée
Summation: What was nice is that the cutlet wasn’t supported by boiled veggies, but instead it was actually tonkatsu filled to the bottom! This definitely is not the best tonkatsu i’ve had, nor is there anything memorable about it. However, if you have a need and require a cheap tonktasu fix in midtown, i’d definitely recommend this joint…but in all honesty, i’d probably go to Ocha. Total cost with tax and tip is $14.23

Oh man, I want some tonkatsu now.. I think the best place for Tonkatsu in the DC/MD/VA area is ironically Ten Ren in College Park. LOL. So many places I need to take you next time you come MD.
looks yummy. I always go to Sarge’s a half block over for their pastrami on rye (which is expensive it feels like they put a whole pound in there).
i want some of that broccoli! as for the chicken…i’ll pass =P
