So Alpha was telling me that him and his mums went to try out the dimsum on the third floor of New World Mall, at a restaurant called Grand Restaurant. He said he was pretty freaking good….as i had complained there hasn’t been a good dimsum joint in the longest time in both manhat chinky town nor flushing chinkytown…hell i haven’t had good dimsum in the longest time. So now i went to try this joint out. (best part? THEY HAVE A CHEAP PARKING LOT ON LOCATION! – you can see it in the picture with the word ‘Park’ between the two arrows pointing downward.)

*i stole the above picture from Jeffrey Tastes.

as you reach the third floor through the escalators, you see how HUGE this place is. (there’s elevators from the basement parking garage.) Just head to that lady in the upper right hand corner in pink and get a number from her. Dang a lot of the hostesses (all in pink) are pretty dang cute/hot. Since the place is so large, you won’t wait a long time for a table no matter what time it is.

we got kind of a crappy table and had to basically stare down all the cart ladies to get their lazy fat asses to us to put food on our table. wait staff (non-chinese) seemed kind of dumb…meaning they didn’t speak english…i think they were mexican [no i'm not calling all mexicans dumb, just your mother].)

Steamed Beef Ball: this was really good and one of the dimsums i always like to get. very flavorful and delicious.

turnip cake, this was REALLY GOOD HERE. crispy outside, hot innards accompanied by cold oyster sauce. YUM!

    grandre8

Chinese Fried Dough in Rice Rolls: this was sooooo fresh! the fried dough was still crunchy and the rice rolls were so slipper and delicious.

We should have known these would be THAT GOOD from the previous dish.

nice hot fresh steam juicy in the mouth.

and of course no dimsum feast would be complete without Pearl Shrimp Dumplings…these were exceptionally good, biting into them they exploded with juices…the intensity of the flavor…really hit the spot just right.

Summations: Oddly enough, after reading a shit-ton reviews from others that complained about wait staff, and food and blah blah this and blah blah that…we had none of those issues/problems.

All of the dimsum dishes we had were ridiculously good, and HOT! which i loved, i’m guessing cause the food keeps coming out and going so fast. I think this is the best dimsum i’ve had in a long time. For what i wanted, it hit the spot.

again my only complaint was our seating area, and how some of the food carts would pass us by, other than that, i’d definitely go there again. (moreover, having gone there at 1pm on a sunday [i like to sleep in, bite me.] i was surprised that there were so many people and so much dimsum options left. )

What’s even cooler is behind the hostesses/wine wall are all these seafood tanks. They have southern hemisphere lobsters, and turtles and tortoises, and HUGE CRABS, and a huge assortment of different fishes! it’s amazing to see so many different types of seafoods housed in all of these pretty large tanks. I am definitely looking forward to eating dinner here and having some of these creatures on my table!

    CHEERS!
