…came from a truck on the side of the road in Maine.

I use to rent a cottage up in Camden, Maine. Upon asking my landlord, where’s the best lobster she’s ever had; She asked to cook or sit down and eat? i replied, to cook! To this day i remember her laugh and her telling me, “a beat up truck off the side of the road!” I was young and a tad skeptical…but she gave me the directions.

at the time it was 3 dollars a lb for 1.75-2lb lobsters. We bought a dozen. (there were 6 of us at the time)

of course it didn’t hurt that i had bought a lobster pot to cook all the lobsters at once.

Here’s the first batch…and from that day forward…This has been the guy i go to for lobster to cook. Believe you me…it doesn’t get better than that. However, i don’t really stay at the Cottage anymore, i stay about 2 hours south in Portland, ME. So after getting lobsters from him for 3 years…i had stopped.

6 Years later…he’s still on the highway, and now i’m much wiser in transporting lobsters and such…I gladly purchased two from him for 20 bucks. Still the cheapest and freshest. I’ve purchased fish from him too, really really good shtuff.

Here’s a Pic of the lobsterman. He’s actually taught me a lot of great tricks in transporting lobster for over 10 hours, and also great tips on how to cook lobster. (good grief i look fullawful in this picture).

You may ask why is his lobster so good?
Answer: He catches it in the morning. I buy from him in the early afternoon (he’s usually sold out by 2pm). and i cook it that evening. People that don’t know the difference between the flavors of a hard shell and a softshell and People that like their lobster rolls with tons of mayo or sauce will not understand this. Maine Lobster that has never been put into ANY OTHER WATER but Maine water is so naturally sweet, you’ll never need butter or salt or lemon or garlic or ginger to eat it. I’ve never put anything on my steamed/boiled lobsters that i cook myself. Don’t believe me? Go to Maine and buy lobster from a Lobsterman, i guarantee you’ll know the difference. negative side? its difficult to eat lobster in nyc. Only when i’m really really fiending will i give in to a lobster roll perhaps….or Buoy 1…

    CHEERS!
