Dinner @ Village Yokocho

Village Yokocho

8 Stuyvesant Street
New York, NY 10003

Moolgishin was visiting NYC, so i decided to have a fatnation meeting to welcome her to her first visit to NYC! Oddly enough, though he did not attend for the food portion, the lCrazyAznl recommended Village Yokocho.

I was fearful to try a new place with a member's first meeting for fear of the food not being good/consistant...however Fiesty had already gone there and stated that it was a pretty good place.

Village Yokocho, a Japanese Pub, known for their alcoholic mixed drinks, also serves a great menu of different eats, such as yakitoris, ramen, and other assorted japanese favorites.

Eaters
yoko4.jpg
Neo, Ray, and Moolgishin
yoko5.jpg
Ryhmes, YueJau, and Azriha.

Foooooooooooood
yoko6.jpg
drinks were sprite and calipcot
yoko7.jpg
started off with some squid leg yakitori (skewers) i liked them.
yoko8.jpg

yoko9.jpg
Then came our Seafood combo Yakitori. Which was very fresh, and lightly breaded. I felt all of it, including the taro 'chip' was really well done. The Shrimp was especially good..
yoko10.jpg
yoko11.jpg
Then came the rest of our yakitor, the meat combo. The assortment was really well seasoned, and HOT...temperature of food is important to me, and they didn't let us down.
yoko12.jpg
i fear i only got to try the lamb ball, which i thought was ok...note to self, tell everyone to order their own yakitori's in the future. lol.
yoko13.jpg
these two items looked uber fatty, i didn't get a chance to try them as they were devoured......but they smelt great.

yoko14.jpg
soy sauce ramen. i did not order this but it looked great, and from what i heard from the owners of the ordered dish, they loved it. So far all of the food was holding up well against our tastes.

Feisty had told me of the Ramen that this placed had served, so with her recommendation i got it....and man oh man was i not let down. Piping hot brought, such juicy and tender meat, and the ramen was perfect in firmness...not as good as Ramen Setagaya, but this can definitely hold off a craving or two....
yoko17.jpg

yoko18.jpg
Then the Okonomiyaki, or Napa Pancake...I was really looking forward to ordering this here, as Feisty had said the dish is very well prepared at Yokocho Village. This dish was really freaking good, the sauce, the texture, everything came together really well...I will definitely be ordering this the next time i come to this place.

Summation: In the end, this place was GREAT! The food came out quick and delicious. I highly recommend the Okonomiyaki, the Ramen, and Yakitori. I will definitely be going back to this place soon to give more 'personal' attention to the Yakitoris, as I later found out that if you order enough Yakitori, they let you grill it yourself on the grill. Recommendations if you're going with a large group (3+ people) i'd recommend ordering yakitoris for yourself, cause sharing the yakitori combo's was kinda lame. One other thing that's awesome is, they close pretty late, sunday thru thursday 2am and friday and saturday 3am. CHEERS!

yea the chicken skin is awesome but gross.  mmm.  i also like yakitori taisho if you just want yakitori, cuz well that's their specialty (it's around the corner).  they also have spicy cod roe mayo with fries, which I LOVE!!!! but you might not.  cuz it's mayo dipping sauce hahahahaha.

mmmm!  also while this ramen is good, setagaya is different style so it's better for my taste... some people might like this "milky" broth better =D
