So Ailin and John have been hinting about this place for the LONGEST TIME. Both of them have been raving about spicy wontons here, and i wanted to take my little sis and mum to somewhere new. so why not?

Food:

Wonton with Hot Sauce - nice steamed wontons that are topped with a melee of spices and scallions and hot oil. $4.50

WB4.jpg
I cannot believe how such a simple dish can be soooo F*ckin good. The flavoring, the texture, the presentation....i'm drooling just thinking about it right now.

WB6.jpg
and to think they don't skimp you on anything just cause the 'hot sauce' is soooo good. Nice hot wonton innards make mouth happy.

Summation: all i have to say is, i can't wait to go back and get some more. Who wants to go with me?

(expect more future reviews of other dishes in this joint. 'nuff said.)

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!!!!

Woke up and was shtarving! So decided to take mum to White Bear to try some new things. I had been eying the "dom dom mein" or Noodles with hot sauce ever since i saw it on the menu there.

food was still piping hot by the time we got home. The place was just too packed to sit down and eat.

wbear2
Noodle with Hot Sauce - it comes with sliced cucumbers, ground pork, bean sprouts, and as you can see the lovely hot sauce. This was really good, i cannot believe how such a simple looking dish can be so flavorful and good. When you stir up all the ingredients together, it meshes really well as the bits of beef retain juiciness and the spiciness just comes afterward as though chasing down the exploding bean sprouts. I super highly recommend this to everyone that goes to this joint. $4.25

Noodle with Hot Sauce (non spicy) - Mum and I had decided to get one without spicy juts incase the spicy wasn't good. Boy were we wrong to doubt the spicy being good, but what was really surprising was that this was extremely good too. It had a different flavor to it without the spicyiness...but in the end me and mum merged the two to make them both spicy. lol. $4.25

wbear4
Wonton with Hot Sauce (20) - we got 20 of these bad boys, and they were sooooo freaking goood...the flavor just really hits you and it's just pure bliss in your mouth. this is a definite must get dish whenever you go to White Bear. $7.75

Summation: This hole in the wall hands down is one of the best joints i've eaten at in Flushing. The noodles, the wontons, the quantity, the quality, THE PRICES!!! great cheap eats, great flavor, great meal. I look forward to trying the soup dishes and the dumplings next time.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!

i go there all the time but, for awhile i stopped bc those ppl really piss me off.. i dont like eating there since the lack of ambiance makes me a little bit queasy  and i can't enjoy the food so i'd buy it to go since there's nothing wrong with the food. i'd ask them to put the hot oil in a container (I usually get the soup wontons) and sometimes they're all like, we dont have enoguh today.  they're SO cheap. so that annoys me and then I wont go for a long while, but then i'd miss it and give up my principles.

Let me know next time you're in Toronto.    My friends and I cook...a lot.  And I've been known to eat...a lot.

Those wontons look amazing.  I steam wontons a lot too and put on hotsauce....don't know what s in your wontons but ours is usually pork/scallions/shitake/bamboo shoots....mmm....

Call me a little stalker but I've recently subscribed to your blog and absolutely love it. Love it so much that I've went back 20 of so pages and read through all your reviews and recommendations. I tried making the crepes last night. Though it was a little on the doughy side, they were quite a delite. Sunday, per your recommendation visited Seven Seas for the *extra crispy* corn beef hash. Superb. Looking forward to trying out some of the flushing spots. Just wanted to show you some appreciation for your hard work and thoughts.

Ciao!
