| Mind you, i didn't even know these things existed till Alphatrion told me about how his ex use to devour these left and right. So i was always curious about them, but never really had the chance to try one till now, and from one of the best places to get one in NYC. |

| What makes it even more interesting is this 'sandwich shop' is located at the back of a jewelry store. |

| Pork Bánh Mì (Pork Vietnamese Sandwich) - Lovely Daikon radish, pickled carrots, cucumber, cilantro, mayo, vietnamese salami and pork...that feels like over cooked char siu (but in a really kick ass good way like hot jerky or juicy bacon.) pictured here is only half of the sandwich. $3.75. |

the ingredients definitely play off each other, as when you actually get a biteful with all the ingredients, they meld together to make the sandwich really good, and i mean every ingredient is important...i love cilantro, so it showing off it's flavor in this ochestra is very pleasant.
|

| now i've read other reviewers, and i felt that everyone that gave this sandwich a bad review...didn't really know the sandwich or the origins of how the sandwich should be. I mean some reviewers even left out key ingredients that were in the sandwich (that are/were kinda blatantly staring you them in the face in their pictures....but whatever the case, i felt that they just disliked this type of sandwich rather than the actual place itself. |

Summation: This was a really good f'ckin sandwich. One of the best i've had in a while, and even better when it's on the hotter side. I love the meat how it's salty and pungent, and just kicks it right to the other ingredients. I am looking forward to trying it 'spicy' with siracha and sliced jalapenos.... *drooooolage. and all for $3.75, that's great bang for buck! woot!!!!

So after finding out that you can actually purchase the ingredients from Saigon bakery to make ur own banh mi, WHY NOT have a BANH MI PARTY?!!?, and even better, get fresh bread! and add more roast pork? oooh now thats an idea.
|

Hoagie bread, italian bread, pickled veggies (turnip and carrots) $2, the roast pork/bacon $8, Viet Salami $3.50, cilantro, and cucumbers. Oddly enough, its very important to have all these ingredients, as the banh mi really is a symphony of these well choregraphed flavors/textures.
|
 | the viet salami has a very distinct flavor. most would think it would be overly salty due to the ingredients, but this is totally not the case...by itself the salami does have enough flavor and would be great solo in a sandwich or even on a cracker.
 |
Here's a sliced portion for you to look at... mmmmm msg.
|

| Bacon/Roast Pork....this is sooooo good. what i do is pop some in the microwave to get it sizzling before putting it into the sandwich. |

| the pickled veggies i feel are pretty much the same as the 2 dollar ones you can find at your local korean supermarkets...however, i'm picky about my korean picked veggies as some places have too much liquid in them or slice them differently. I admit this is my favorite type of cut of it. |

cilantro, a must in a viet sandwich!!! gives it that nice settle kick near the end.
|
 | cool sliced cucumbers, a nice burst of coolness and refreshingness. |

| of course if you're allergic make it as you please, or fill it with what you like, chicken, hot dogs, curry....etc..etc. |
 | some like it the simple way... |

 | Bread, slice bread, rip out some innards of bread, mayo, and put in sizzling viet flavored bacon. |

 | i ran out of cilantro and cucumbers...booooo...but the banh mi was still ridiculously good.... |
Summation: this was very good, and i look forward to making these at my superbowl party, WOOT WOOT!! and nothing compliments it better than a nice cup of hot milk tea. WOOT! CHEERS!!!
