The Professor and I had wanted to eat at Cafe Triskell, however, right when we walked in, the awesome cook told us that they weren't opened today, and that he was actually going to be on vacation for a week. We wished him a  much deserved good vacation and left. This did not help with our hunger, so we decided to go across the street to Arepas Cafe, a place i had spied the last time i had gone to Cafe Triskell.

Our food came rather quick, with the two supplied sauces and my Passion fruit Juice (Maracuya) $3.00

House Salad (Iceberg lettuce, cherry tomatoes, avocados, and house dressing): It was just as expected, a pretty much plain jane salad. It was what we had ordered, but what really made the salad all that much better were the two dressings supplied...one was a reddish/orangish dressing that was spicy. the other was a green cold vegetable dressing known as guasacaca. Guasacaca is so good that you could put it on a shoe and it'd taste good. $6.75

Mami (Venezuelan roast pork, avocado and white cheese): This was really good, but its crucial that you get all the ingredients in your mouth when you take a bite. It was even better with the green sauce...and of course pushing some salad into this gigantic arepa didn't hurt either. lol $7.25

Carne Mechada Arepa (Venezuelan style shredded Beef): This arepa was also really good. Again pushing salad into it with some guasacaca sauce really made it soooooo gooooood. $6.00

acafe8Summation: In total, i'd say that the Arepas are definitely different than the ones i had at Valencia Luncheria...I'm guessing Arepas Cafe uses corn flower, whereas Valencia actually uses corn meal.

So i'd have to say the Arepas are different...These are pretty good, but definitely on the pricier side.

I definitely like Valencia more, but for a quick fix..and if i'm not in the mood to drive so far (Valencia Luncheria is in another state afterall)...I don't mind coming here...

I also look forward to trying some other things they offer. Decor is pretty nice, and service was a little spotty, but all in all i enjoyed the food, just not the price.

CHEERS!
