So i was at NYC Comic Con 2010 with Cr, my little sister’s BF. We were famished from stomping through comic books and toys and statues and video games and cosplay hotties and…yeah you get the point…so we left comic con for a little to get some grub (cause we knew that the last hour on sunday is when all the deals and sales happen as alot of the vendors want to get rid of their stock so they don’t have to carry so much home. WOOT!) Since this was the area that Cr worked, he asked what i was craving for. I said i wouldn’t mind a sit down joint to grab a quick bite, so he recommended Skylight diner.

Tuna Salad Sandwich (choose your bread [white toast], add lettuce, tomato, cheese & condiments comes with cole slaw): I did not partake in this, but Cr, said it was good, but a little too much tuna salad for his preference. looked great and smelt great! $5.75

Cr also got a side of fries $3.50. these were aite..would have been better if they had cooked them longer and crisped the outside.

    Cr got Coke ($1.95),
    I got Coffee ($1.35).

Shrimp Cocktail (5 with dipping sauce): I was fiending for some shrimp cocktail, and i’ve been to many diners that had really good shrimp cocktail…this was not the case here…the shrimp cocktail was disgusting…and i totally got the negative fix..so bad that it made me not want to have any shrimp cocktail for a while…i think they gave me an extra one to try and make up for horrible looking, size, and taste were…but increasing nasty…is just nasty amplified….DO NOT GET THE SHRIMP COCKTAIL HERE. $11.00

Chicken Fingers (with honey mustard sauce): These were really freaking good. didn’t completely make up for the horrible shrimp cocktail, but this would definitely be something i could order here. $7.75

    skyl9

though most likely frozen, they knew how to fry it up to be really crispy on the outside…if only they did this with the fries.

    skyl10

best part was juicy insides…alot of joints that fry up frozen chicky fingers always ‘overdo’ it and the chicken innards end up as jerky…

Summation: over all i know there’s probably history about this place that i just don’t know about, but i can say the décor was nice and pleasing. I definitely wouldn’t mind making it a yearly thing when i go to comicon to come back to this place to stuff my face…but i definitely know next time i’ll probably hit on a burger or whatever else they are known for. WOOT!

*thanks go to Cr for getting me a sunday pass to go to comic con and rekindling my love of the ole comic con hustle and bustle. CHEERS!
