Dumplings and Bao @ Lao Bei Fang

So Jelly has been telling me about a lot of good food places in the area of Elmhurst of late. One place was Lao Bei Fang for dumplings. Oddly enough i have actually eaten from them before, however, at their old location…but totally furgot to go back and do a review…I remember very cheap and good dumplings…I got out of the office early so Crazy and i met up to stuff our faces from Lao Bei Fang…it was uber crowded inside (dinner rush) so we decided to snatch up items and bring it back to feast.
We got a lot of good shtuff, we were starving!
First up, the steamed meat and veggie bao…which was big and pretty good…and only 75 cents.
Fresh Pork and Chives Fried Dumplings. Nice crispy outside, good warm tasty innards. $7.00 for 20.
Fresh Pork and Chives Steamed Dumplings. The skin reminded me a lot like Chinese Korean Dumplings, but the innards and flavor were completely different and very very good….drool. $2.75 for 8.
I busted out some Canceaux sauce that i buy from Maine; it’s a sweet and spicy sauce….soooo freaking good….added the perfect kick to the dumplings. Summation: I was really happy with all the dumplings…though admittedly the fried ones would probably have been better if eaten on location. Steamed ones were really good too…. And the steamed bao…for 75 cents!?!??!? was awesome. I plan on getting more and trying more items…and of course bring some to my awesome co-workers. LOL
Thanks for the reminder/recommend Jelly. WOOT!
