My favorite thing at Menku-Tei is definitely the Sara Udon…it has such a great mix of fresh ingredients.
the napa, the naruto, the shitake, the squid, the shrimp, the chicken, the snap peas…and the list goes on…
it just mixes soooo well together…can never get enough!

  • The Sandwich Chronicles

    I made a sandwich:
    sammich1
Fresh Bread, Hellman’s Mayo, Deli Pickles, Pastrama, Roast Beef, American Cheese, and fresh Cilantro.

    sammich2
putting it all together and slicing some pickles.

    sammich3
When the bread is really fresh and soft, i don’t like to overload it with meat. A perfect balance….
    soooooo gooooooooood. *tear

It’s been a while since i’ve posted about this place, but i have eaten here quite often. There are certain cantonese dishes that i love to get from here, and whatever i dislike here, i like at High Pearl and vice versa. But this entry is really about the three things i absolutely love at this joint. hope you enjoy them too if you ever get the chance.

    The Feast

    cgr2

I always think its so funny that whenever i take a picture of the table everyone picks up their elbows in hopes of not getting in the way of the picture or drawing attention to themselves…but ultimately they end up drawing more attention to themselves if anything. LOL. Just act normal when i eat with you…especially when i take pics…candid shots are my favorites. lol.

Chinese Style Garlic Fried Chicken: $11.95

    cgr3

I love getting this here…it’s always so fragrant, and i love putting a ton of the garlic/scallion medly into my hot bowl of rice with the juicy tender chicken…that’s always so hot and juicy…

    cgr4

    Groper and Tofu Claypot: $11.95

    cgr5

This is my favorite dish to get at Canton Gourmet…the fish, the shrooms, tofu, the veggies at the bottom are always perfectly cooked and perfectly flavored for me…I could eat this whole thing by myself…it’s THAT GOOD.

    cgr6

Famous Silver Golden Egg Fried Rice: $11.95

    cgr1

And I’ve always loved specialty fried rices…but this one definitely takes the cake. It is to me the best fried rice i’ve ever had at a restaurant (please understand that when i say that this is the best i’ve had, this excludes all home cooked meals…as that just wouldn’t be fair.)

    cgr7

love the raisins and perfectly cooked egg…this rice compliments any and all dishes really well as its not overly salty or too bland.

cgr9 Summation: As far as i’m concerned, my first review stands the same…This restaurant is a great place to grab a bite to eat…really good in large groups.

The prices don’t bother me either.

I definitely recommend this place, whether busy or not, the food has been pretty consistent here.

    CHEERS!
