  • I met a Fishing Shrimp…

    Fishing Shrimp

    Check their twitter for location.

(i didn’t take the above picture, from the google gods.)

Co-workers had been spying this joint recently and we all decided to take a gander at it.

    fishrimp1

We all got the Fish and Shrimp Combo that comes with fries ($13.00) and since we’re really picky about our cole slaw, we decided to divvy up one order ($3.00).

    fishrimp2

Nothing about this cole slaw wow’d me…definitely not worth 3 dollars…

    fishrimp3

This is the whole Meal. Fish, Shrimp and fries!

    fishrimp4

the fish was very thin and battered lightly. Eating the fish was really good with tartar sauce…but very oily.

    fishrimp5

The fish was quite fresh, but i didn’t much like the skin. If that’s your thing, you’ll definitely like it.

    fishrimp6

I actually liked the shrimp more than the fish…next time i’ll probably just get the shrimp.

Summation: The food was all…a little too oily…i know its fried food, but it was way over-oiled, and the fries were soggy…with oil…fries just weren’t good. Only thing i felt was good was the shrimp and the tartar sauce….and i’m interested in trying the conch…but other than that…this wasn’t that great of an experience…but i’m willing to try it again. *shrug.

  • Canceaux Sauce.

Every year that i go to Maine, i always eat Canceaux Sauce…
    canceaux1
I put it on my lobster omelet, or dip my maple sausage in it…or even the fresh mussels i make..
    canceaux2
you could literally put this sauce on a shoe and eat it.
    canceaux3
its the best spicy/sweet sauce i’ve ever eaten…LOVE IT! I highly recommend it. 0_o

  • Uncle Gussy’s treats me Right.

    Uncle Gussy’s

345 Park avenue (Park Avenue and 51st Street)
    New York, NY 10022

    Guss1

(*i did not take the above picture! This was from the google god’s, cred goes to NYCBlondieAndBrownie)

JW1976 had been raving about Uncle Gussy’s for a while now, and it was pretty close to my office…I was getting a little tired of my usual stomping grounds so i figured why not? John‘s always had good taste in food, so it was no surprise that i’d venture out first to one of his favorites.

    guss2

They have a really nice menu with quite a plethora of options to choose from. (There menu is actually on their website, click here for Menu.)

    guss3

I got the Combo (Gyro and Chicken) with Rice and Salad, that comes with Tzatziki sauce ($6.00). I got mine with a Pork Souvlaki +$3 and Sweet BBQ Sauce on the side (Total is $9.00)

    guss4

The chicken was really moist and juicy and in very big clumps.

    guss5

the Gyro meat was very flavorful and crispy…soooo good. salad was really fresh.

    guss6

I would have to say this is the best pork souvlaki i’ve ever had to date…i use to love this place in flushing for it that closed down…but this was really freaking good…very juicy, and maintained the smokey flavor really well.

    guss7

It was a little hard to mix up cause the ingredients weren’t as finally chopped up as other places, but i liked it this way…it made it feel more like from a restaurant than from a street vendor…to me it gave it more of a classy feel.

Summation: Uncle Gussy’s was really freaking good. Things that you’ll notice when you eat it is that the rice is quite different from other street vendors…its very plump and gooooood. Salad is fresh, and love all the huge chunks of meat, definitely different from other vendors. Souvlaki very very good. Salad was fresh. Tzatziki sauce was really good and i just love their bbq sauce…All in all i look forward to trying other items off their menu…and though i’ve eaten from there several more times already….it gets really hard to stray away from what i ordered in this entry…..droool…i think i’m going to have to get some this week. 0_o.

    thanks again John Wong.

    CHEERS!

December 7, 2012

  • I made Mac and Cheese.

Another Dish i made for Thanksgiving that got devoured. I decided to make it again so this time i could eat some.
    macNchese1
However, this year i made it with Four different kinds of cheese. (yesh mac and cheese made from scratch.)
    macNchese2
Montery Jack, Mild Cheddar, Queso Quesadila and Asadero Cheese. My favorite part of the recipe:
    you don’t cook the macaroni.
    macNchese3
crispy cheese on top, hot gooey cheese innards…so. very. nice.

    Here’s the Recipe.

  • I made Tuna Casserole.

I actually made this for Thanksgiving…but because it was dogged and i didn’t get to eat any…
I made it again to share with my little brother.
    tunaCasserole1
It’s funny…since i’ve made it so many times i’ve actually altered the original recipe…
and put in two cans of corn. I feel the corn actually adds a really nice touch to the casserole.
    tunaCasserole2
Again….no leftovers…i think i might have to make another one. 0_o
